Can any one guide me how weights are assigned using principal component analysis/ factor analysis? At which step you got the weights to be assigned?

<p>I want to make an index using three variables, I know how to apply pca/fa in Stata, but got stuck while computing squared factor loadings (scaled sum to unity).</p> <p>Any one from experts can easily answer the question.</p>
