It varies among companies and industries. At times, it can mean the same or can be  used interchangeably.  However generally, Chief Accountant is hired for a  specific company or work for a single business with subordinates to manage, whereas Senior Accountant is someone who has gained years of experience and  may work for a company offering accounting services to other companies (e.g. Accounting firms, outsourcing, shared services, etc.) without subordinates.

I agree with Mr. Shahul Hameed!

It is just position naming as differs from a company to onother. Mostly uses with Hotels and big firms as they are using Chief Accountant position rather than Senior accountant.

BOTH are handling full set of Accounting princibles strating from voucher and ending to Financial statements.
