What is the difference between customer service and hospitality ?

Customer service is a marketing and sales tool to attract potential customers. Its attached to any industry driven by People, such as Banking, Courier, logistics industries based on intensive customer services.

 

Whereas the term hospitality is attached high end luxury products like Airways,5 star Hotels, Real Estates and Resorts, Where the customer is been highly pampered and provided with personal client services.

Customer service is facilitating customer regarding our product or service, so that he/she can use that product/service up to optimum level,

while hospitality is treating customer in a very good manner.

My understanding is customer service can also be provided over the phone long distance but hospitality is always face to face service in hotels, resturants or cruise ships.

Hospitality is an attitude of how we treat our family members, friends, neighbors and other people that coming inside our territory while customer service is an attitude of how we treat customers in our business. However, if we will apply hospitality in a business, we can now form another term. What will be the term? For me, I don't know but i can do.

Customer Service can be anything from personalised to indirect interaction for sales, marketing, after sales service, escalation resolution. To add more, anything that would help an internal or an external customer in understanding and  using a product or service at any point of time with ease by any form of direct or indirect assistance provided by the supplier is Customer service.

Hospitality is everything of customer service above , just that now it is identified more with personalised service with specific services such as hotel industry.

talking with a professional point of view, customer service and hospitality is the same thing. Hospitality being a tool and sub category of customer service.

Customer Service are anything related to service customer needs and it can be offered in different industries whilst Hospitality are focuse on specific areas i.e. hotels, restaurant among others.
