Yes, Stategic purchasing also part of spending money but with the taste to the end user, where we assume give long term returns & value to the investment. Periodical check to be done whether strategic purchased are reaching the expectation of the management on which the strategic decision has been taken
It is very important, since you have to stay on the budget or rather keep department managers on their budget. Keeping our maintenance manager on track was not an easy task, however I found a way to keep him on budget and all machines running.
When I noticed this is falling under Capital Expenditure ... I send him a filled out document for him to turn in to finance ... kept two departments happy...
I agree with you it is very important and should be considered for any valuable purchases.Especially for capital and other items that will be resold after use like equipment,cars,buildings...etc.
