Does personality,beauty,dressing and behavior is more effective in your career building more than your ability and education?

Look and dressing are just the finishing touches to the diamond values of abilities, knowledge, education, behaviour - actions/deeds to develop a personality which has an impact on career and self life.

I work in a technology company where we do not care the appearance of the person, or how he dresses but of course proper behavior is expected..We care the skills he/she has and the demonstrates abilities to succeed in the role we offer.. In the customer facing environments such as Banks, Sales positions proper dressing, and well mannered behavior are important alongwith the compentencies of the job requirements...At any rate, dressing, looks comes next to education and ability to do the job...

Yes it does , especially in executive or mid management assignment, employers seek for :

First : Experience

Second : Personality

Third : Education and Qualification

Prestigious looking dressing and beauty reflect "personality" with all employers and has positive effect. 

It depends on the place and position where you are working and how much you are going to expose it

From my point of view I think they are affecting the career building as it they're the first thing every one can see.

Yes. sure

 it can be real in most of the companies

  but i beleive that it depends on the place and position

you may have and also where you are working

and i beleive that education , abilities & skills are very important as well too

 

 

Yes it does in most of the companies. Actually a human being no matter how educated and professional can see apparent and tangible things and value them. We cannot normally see the hidden treasures.

I agree that it depends on the place and position you have and where you are working. In fact when I was an external consultant in a facility management company a collegue at the finance department approached me after a couple of months and said that I had an advantage being a sweet Norwegian girl (this was in a Swedish company). I felt as I had something that he couldn´t compete with although my theoretical merits were very good and that I had done a very responsible projectwork in a short period. Unfourtunatly some persons in companies use arguments like that because they often are grey and dull.
