Proper awareness among people to adopt Green technologies and its payback period need to be discussed among people which will surely encourage them to adopt.
As you mentioned it is a behavior So the behavior acquired and originates with man through the stages of the evolution of life from an early age to become a fully developed human beingThis training should be on behavior in children results in order to come and to be value at the end
In my view, Green technologies always have a minimum of30% more initial cost than normal, and i am taking in construction industry. This give owners or investors hard time to think about it. But if the project is observed in longer terms this extra investment is actually beneficial. There are other factor also like commercialization, market trends, awareness (as my fellows in above comments mentioned) etc.

People don't like change! It's called inertia and it's very hard to change! What happens is that most people don't really see the need to change their behavior (or they do but then just don't bother).
Because green technology cost more than traditional technology and the benefit (revenue) takes more time in green technology case!
