My boss was a great leader and a valuable asset to the company,he is a good friend and a big brother to me.

Hello - based on your recent questions you are probably having some issues with your boss.

If you feel that your boss is showing more fondness to a colleague - this may be hard to not notice especally if you feel you are working just as hard, or even harder. However, you will find it true in life, not only at work, that this happens. There are always people that we seem to be fond of, even sometimes for no reasons.

Relevant to your question, I am not sure if your boss owns the company or just an employee like you who has more authority. If you feel that his favorable attitude towards your colleague has gone off the boundaries and no longer respect the values of the company, you should communicate this to him.

If I was the person who was given an increment and a good appraisal, inspite of my poor performance - I would definitely think my boss acknolwedges my strengths and understands my limitations and supports me in overcoming them. If I was this person, I will do my best to perform better and not fail in the future tasks.

You cannnot question your boss on his decision to give an increment or a good appraisal to your colleague - this is between them, and is really none of your business. It may be hard, but you should also not feel bad about your colleague who gets an increment, and look at it in a different way by being happy for another person who has a better means to livelihood.

If you feel you deserve an increment,  you may bring this issue to your boss or your company. If you are not satisfied with your appraisal, you can disagree with your supervisor, after all an apppraisal can only be concluded at the consensus of both participants.

By the way, the salary increment and appraisal are both private and confidential issues. These are infos never to be shared or discussed among colleagues, around the office.

If you feel nepostism exists in your office and there is nothing you can do about it, don't be afraid to walk away. There are better opportunities out there for those who stand up for what is right and not afraid to take risks.

He/She must be a good boss, why? because he/she knew the worth of the employee, I failed five times, but my loyalty to serve the company is there, and he/ she sees me as a potential entity for the company. He/ she is a fair boss.A motivator.

Based on previous experience, my boss was in dubai so there was no daily communication only through email or phone ...meetings were very rare but i have learned a lot from her and it was a great pleasure to me to work under her supervision.

Well, this depends on the personality of the employee (the way he/she thinks)

For me i would consider this a motivation that will encourage me to work harder and of course i will discuss it with my boss in order to see what is his/her expectations for further improvements .

Also i will put a plan for me in order to minimize the errors .

Instead of thinking and feeling, I would prefer to understand my boss, his requirement & expectation and try to develop and maintain a professional relationship.

In spite of failing five times, getting salary hike and good appraisals?? This sounds bit hypothetical, if not then, try to get reasonable justification for this act of kindness. There could be more surprises. After all It is a business environment and one has to pay the price for everything. Nothing comes for free.

Best solution, in my opinion, is to look for other opportunity and switch your job for professional growth and better job satisfaction.

my boss is strict in disposition and always keen on making us work in line with stated timeframes and meet stipulated deadline. I guess thats why he is so efficient
