I highly agree with Mr. Thiab..But the best practice must be always personalize.

Escorting the hotel guest invites more oppurtunities for business and checking for satisfaction.

If a guest asks for direction simply offer to escort them, if they obliged simply provide the directions. These are the basics.

Depends on how far away it is and if the restaurant the client wishes to visit is on the hotel property or not.  I would walk with the client as far as I could without leaving the property, engaging in conversation about their stay in the hotel and in the city, perhaps offering advice on where to go next.  When I was traveling in the Philippines last month, I got plenty of valuable advice from the lobby staff.  Definitely useful!

i`ll walk with him to the restaurant

First of All, if there is chance to be asked by the Guest where is the restaurent, that mean the hotel system is not well organized. Becuase on the lobby, the sign boards and information boards should be stated and those signs should be selfexpanlatory.

Secondly, if the guest is asking to an Hotel assosiate (staff) where is the restaurent, the asked personnel should honor the guest by escroting him/her till he/she can have a visibility of restaurent location. That is what we called Customer Care. If the restaurent is far away from the place you stand, and then you should check the possibilities of arranging a messenger or guid to accompany the guest till restaurent, otherwise, you should explain the location and make sure that the guest is fully undertood what you have explained.
