An internal audit (IA) function is not operating effectively if it is unable to provide assurance on the risks that matter to the organisation at present in a manner and time frame that us useful.

Additionally in case the IA function is not adding value by making recommendations for improvement (change agent) that are aligned with the organisations vision and strategy.
