A workbook / worksheet was saved with a password, but unfortunately you forgot about it, are there softwares or any other ways of opening it?

There is no official password recovery provided by Microsoft if you happen to forget it.
However there are third party MS Office password recovery programs which you can try at your own risk.

You can use the MS Office password recovery tool, it can automatically find your forgotten password for protected Office Word doc, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
the Microsoft Office2000 -2010 are all supported

There is always a way, and would be nice to know the version of the Office package you are using.2003?2007?20010?
So we can come out with more specific and proper solution, and eliminate the uncompatable solutions for that issue for the purpose of faster and effective solution.
