Not the gender , but the attitude is important. And don't try to convince for buying, but find the way to the customer feels that cant exist without it.

The literature is full of theories about the "great sales person" and how he/she should look like, what attributes and qualities he/she should have, how he/she should make miracles and walk on water ....

Let us cut the crab.  There is no magical recipie or formular coomposed of A+B+C ... which makes a person a great sales person .

I even do NOT like or prefer to use such terms as "Great" because this cannot be expressed in facts and numbers, cannot be measured, and there is no scale or yardstick to measure against.

I prefer other terms as "successful" or "effective" ... although these terms need to be well-defined and expressed in facts, figures and numbers.

One of the very basic things about "great, effective or successful sales persons" is that they should be able to sell, and they do sell, and they do achieve or overachieve in their performance to meet or exceed the expectations/requirements/quotas and objectives.

This goes back to what we really expect from the sale person .. and I really do NOT think gender (male or female) is a key differentiator here  !!
