Unfortunately this syndorme does exist in business word today, and managers (decision makers) bring their relatives (not only their nephews), but the whole gang of relatives, friends, supporters, cheerers and "yes" people with them onboard !!    Simply because this is in their interest and it will help/benefit them

How to stop this ??

There could be different answers to this, but  - in my view - the best and most effective way takes the following steps by any organization wishing seriously to stop this practice

  1. Develop a specific and clear company policy regarding "acceptable and non acceptable "relatives" employment"  in the same department/function/location or in the company in general
  2. Make sure to include a "mandatory" term in managers/decision makers contracts to abide by the above policy and hold them accountable for any violation or abuse of this policy
  3. Include a sub-process in the hiring process to ensure the applicability/abidance by the stated policy and make it the responsibiluty of HR to include this in the "candidate" background check prior to employment
  4. Make this point a vaild regulatory check point in internal and external audits performed by the company internal audit/quality management/compliance/governance function
  5. Open the door for employees, associations, leagues and even the media to speak up and point out any violations or abuse of this policy through feedback. comments, complaints, suggestions for improvement, .. etc.

I believe this is good enough to stop/control/manage this syndrome if organizations are truly serious about it
