Hello Ghulam ,

The very unique thing to a composite material is the fact that you "can design it" to have the right properties that fit a certain application.

For example, go for a glass fiber composite in epoxy resin, and you get strength, dimensional stability and fire retarding properties. Or you can go for polyester resin and glass fiber with special additives and you get a UV laminate for general purpose applications.

As you know, composite materials consist of a matrix and fibers distributed in it, in a way that, the fibers determine the mechanical properties you want to get while the matrix determines the medium that holds the fibers together. There are many matrix configurations that suite different types of fibers, so at the end , you can get whatever performance charachteristics you wish to have, whether chemical, enviromental or mechanical.

Best luck
