A common mistake while having an IT project to be implemented is forgetting the infrastructure that is needed by the system itself, hardware infrastructure has the same importance as the software, it should be included in the project plan as the software is, and should be discussed in detail to have a full picture about what is to be later implemented.
While planing, there should be a slack time for each task or milestone, this will give the project manager the opportunity to catch up his schedule if any unintended delays happened.
