Everybody has an opinion, but nobody knows

For example, when SAP says “business analytics” instead of “business intelligence”, it’s intended to indicate that business analytics is an umbrella term including data warehousing, business intelligence, enterprise information management, enterprise performance management, analytic applications, and governance, risk, and compliance.

But other vendors (such as SAS) use “business analytics” to indicate some level of vertical/horizontal domain knowledge tied with statistical or predictive analytics.

Business Intelligence is a broad term that refers to the tools that gather, transform, load and analyze data to produce information about your business.

Business Analytics is the practice of iterative, methodical exploration of an organization’s data with emphasis on statistical analysis. It may sound a little similar to business intelligence; however the main difference is that BA is driven mainly by statistical analysis which is capable of adding a new level of information, including forecasting, regression and modeling.
