Marketing is a process;

·         Identifies the needs and wants of people

·         Determines and creates products or services that meet their needs and wants

·         How and where to deliver them

·         How to price them

·         How to promote the products

Sales is a process;

·         Forecasts people’s needs

·         Finds a solution to them

·         Recommends it to the people in need

·         Advocates their product and sells it to them

In both, they then create a transaction for exchanging the product for a certain value to create satisfaction to the buyer

The difference between sales and marketing is that sales involves the act of persuading consumers to purchase a product or service while marketing refers to the activities that support sale such as identifying market needs, production, branding and promoting the product. Marketing involves creation of demand of a product in the market while sales fulfil this demand. In small businesses marketing and sales are handled by the same department
