I think its society and its 'culture' that is forcing these ideas down our throats. I'm a United States native and I completely agree that everything that is popular is wrong. American culture has gotten out of hand as they try to define what the culture is. Teenage girls wearing super short shorts, popular but wrong; teens having unprotected sex and getting pregnant is popular and SO WRONG; the overrated drugs amongst teens and adolescents... (just to name a few)
It's now wrong to spank your child, wrong to punish your daughter if she has a boyfriend, these things are from the western culture and have completely gone over board.
It is up to us to make the popular trends a right trend so all can follow.
Nope, I do not agree with this statement. For something to be popular it HAS to be good, because you can fool a handful of people, but to convince people to buy it beyond those handful, it has to be good.
I'm not a fan of generalizing any statements or judgments , some things that are popular might stand out as being wrong , such as smoking and some other things might not such as sports .

I would say balance. there are popular of wrong when it is important and obvious wrong. there are popular right when it is important right.
