How do you remove the white background from an image?

To select the Image by Lasso Tool, and then press ctrl+J speared the layer. You show your image without background.

Option1: use Magic wand tool or quick selection tool and select the white area then either hit delete (not recommended) to delete the white area or right click on the selected area, choose 'select Inverse', then click on the 'New mask' button in the bottom of the 'Layers' panel. 

 

Option2: If subject matter of your image does not have any white colours, then go to select, click 'Colour Range' then choose highlights or whites from drop down and click ok. Then again either delete or choose invert and mask.
