Standalone mode with the default Hadoop configuration properties allows MapReduce programs to be debugged in Eclipse.

hadoop jar (path of java programme)

I think Eclipse is the best tool to debug MapReduce programs and when you combine it with the Hadoop plugin for eclipse, it is even more simpler.
