I prefer Bus topology in computer networking system because networking is inexpensive, if computer network fails than remaining system does not effect.
Most commonly using the star topology in all orgainsation. Hub/Swith networking is some what like star topology.
When it comes with Routers. then it will be a combination of Bus and Star topology.
So as per the requirement we are designing the network topology.
First go through the requirement needed.
If you have complex requirement go through the Hybrid Topology.
The topolgy suit your requirement is consider the best, in today Enterprise Network we can not use single type of topolgy rather a combination of network toplogy, a dessign can have bus and star toplogy combined in a single network Dessign
ring topology
Nowadays we are using mostly physical star , but even in modern networking there are logical topology that some might not realised still being used. Wifi and3g is using logical bus topology, some fibre channel is using logical ring topology. Logical bus also occur at endpoint of a server for traffic control.
Always Depends upon your company requirments.....
