Home work is given to the students to practice the recently learned lesson. It also provide them an opportunity to revise it.

Home work should be within a justified limit because too much work is burden on the student and they don't do it with interest and devotion.

I agree with Anayat, homework is a time for reflection, revision at the end of the day and possibly preparation time for a forthcoming lesson. He makes a very valid point about too much work being counter productive or to quote an English saying "too much work and not enough play makes Jack a dull boy"!!
