Dependent on which side of the world you are studying in since the type of work can sometimes differ but generally in western countries mining engineers should have knowledge in the following areas:

Geology;

Soil and Rock Mechanics;

Rock Breakage (Machince Mining and Drill & Blast);

Mine Infrasturucture;

Mining Methodologies;

Underground Mine Ventilation;

Mineral/Commodity Economics;

Mining Economics; and

Environmental Management.

For a more thorough breakdown i sugget you see "SME Mining Engineering Handbook".

Don't forget this is all in addition to the basic engineering subject of maths and physics.

Hello Eng Hussein ,

I'm not a mining engineer I'm a mining Geologist , but I think if you want a course for mining engineer you must have a good knowledge about Engineering Geology .

Good luck
