ASM instance running on multiple of background processes
Hi
ASM has it's own database instance running . So if your datafiles are in ASM and say your database name is test. If I do a ps -ef |grep pmon at $ prompt I will see PMON process belonging to two databases one will be test and other will come out as +ASM.
Like any other database +ASM database will have it's own SGA and background processes.
if You cannot get your +ASM Database up, then the datafiles will be in-accessible and your main database also will not start.
