What does it take to become an IT manager?

I have variety of skills gained with hard work that entitle me to apply IT in different forms. I also had completed few project management documents In addition to my experience in web developing, animation and networking recently added. I am diploma and degree holder and have more than5 experience in the filed. I'd like to move to manager position.

A manager, either from IT or any other subject, must have a fundamental characteristic: he/she must be able at all times to translate technical requirements in contribution for the business and vice-versa.

 

As good as your technical skills may be, if you do not think "business" than your managerial potential is not being fully exploited.

I think "Manager" is not just a name , in fact its a potential that a person has. u wont be a good Project manager with licenses .

1st of all you have to earn enough knowledge about the projects that you are workin on and you may will work on.

2nd , you have to undrestand your employer and clients concentration.

Sure you need to take some Management training but after that it is a matter of potential!
