Writing story books for children is common but for adults is rare, why?

I don't think that it is rare, but the matter is that you can attract children's attention by nice colours and simple writings but writing for adults is a very wide and branching field.

It is not that writing for adults is rare, it is just that writing for each age target is different. For example, there are levels for books targeted towards children while for adults there is one common standard level (I am specifically talking about language structure and topic).

 

Secondly, I think the opposite is true - to a certain extent. In the market, you find more books targeted towards the adult audience rather than just the children. This is because there is a large range of topics that are available to authors targeting an older audience while for children there are only a certain number of topics that would interest them.
