Always reread your work multiple times.
Even when you think your writing is done, take a break from it (for an entire day if deadlines allow), reread it again and edit further.
Write less, not more -- think succinct, short sentences.
Flowery words do not convey messages better; they weaken your writing.
Always use the active voice, rather than the passive.
