Windows NIC Teaming  is soulation to solve the network availability and performance challenges is NIC Teaming.  ( NIC bonding, network adapter teaming, Load balancing and failover, etc.). also Is the ability to operate multiple NICs as a single interface from the perspective of the system.

In windows Server2012 NIC Teaming provides two key capabilities :

  1. Protection against NIC failures by automatically moving the traffic to remaining operational members of the team, i.e., Failover, and
  2. Increased throughput by combining the bandwidth of the team members as though they were a single larger bandwidth interface, i.e., bandwidth aggregation.

Windows Server2012 and our FREE Hyper-V Server 2012 include native teaming of network adapters to provide load balancing, bandwidth aggregation and failover capabilities using standard Ethernet NICs.

NIC teaming : It is a2012 server feature. you can use it to make team of your network adapters up to32 NIC per team. it doesn't matter the types of NICs (Manufacturer- I mean).

You use it for either load balancing or aggregation of BW. it has two modes.

first: Switch Dependant - the switch has a role in the teaming.

second: Switch Independant - it doesn't matter if your NICs are on same physical switch.

Finally:

you can check MS website for details. because there is more than what i mentioned.

NIC Teaming, also known as Load Balancing/Failover (LBFO), allows you to install additional physical Ethernet network adapters (NICs) into your server and “team” or combine them together to make one virtual NIC that provides better performance and fault tolerance. In order to take advantage of the LBFO benefits of NIC Teaming, you will need at least two adapters. Windows Server2012 supports up to32 adapters in a single team. Wireless and Bluetooth adapters are not supported, but they won’t provide the transfer speeds you typically want to see from your servers anyway.

This is option is a great addition to win2012 server, with this option you can group all NIC cards to work under one IP e.g if you have410Gig interfaces available on the server then you can get40gig out put using teaming feature. But you have to keep in mind that switch is also supporting this feature with right configurations.
