- Good standard of being able to read letters and numbers - this is important for getting the right patient's record to the correct depts and for the filing of records.
- Like to work as a team player, friendly and able to communicate easily with others.
- Doesn't mind repetitive nature of job - getting files, then putting them back when finished with.
- Fit - may need to walk long distances and sometimes push a trolley.

The main tasks of a good medical record clerk are:

- He/She should have patience, polite to patients, hard work, helping patients etc.,

- Good Medical Record knowledge (Like knowing all the policies and procedures of Medical Record Department.

- Of course knowing numbers so that to retrieve and file the records.

- Good understanding with Medical and paramedical staff.

- Should have always smiling face.
