Being in sales you are always on your toes to get an upper hand over your competitors.  But defeating them and throwing them out of the field could be a dream and have nothing to do with the ground realities. If your are a good planner and good implementer of your marketing and sales strategies, you can get an upper hand over your competitors constantly and they are always running after you trying to follow you and you keep on changing your directions quickly so that till the competitors understand your move you must have changed the direction. It is your win in a way but defeating them totally is not right thinking.  So sports Analogy have changed its meaning when it comes to sales.
