Are the characters in your writings based on real life (people you really know) or from your imagination?

As a journalist I am writing about real people, their`s true stories, some sad some not...Even that I really do not need to use imaginary characters, there are so many stories around the world waiting to be discovered, I am very creative and just love to imagine and dream...Dream...Make a wish! :)
