when an evaporator is faulty it is not able to provide the proper flow of cooled refrigerant. This causes the loss of efficiency of the refrigerator or in engineering terms the reduction of COP. an evaporator is mainly turned out to be faulty in two conditions

1. Leak in the tubes

2. accumulation of particles along the tube lining.

Leak in the tubes are very important to control since they also harm the compressor. some refrigerants when leaked into the atmosphere can cause a lot of harm to the health of the humans. leak can be tested by using leak detection tests. CPS leak detection test is also on technique.

Vacuum Engineering is a world class supplier of helium leak test machines, having supplied more than500 systems throughout the world to the major automotive OEMs and manufactures of refrigerators and air conditioning systems. The following describes leak test methods and Vacuum Engineering machines.

other mathematical methods are leak rate specification and pressure decay methods.

the linings of the heat exchanger can be accumalated with particles that may disturb the flow rate of refrigerant. this may arise due to the use of low quality refrigerants which may have contaminations. One method is scaling which removes hard particles which are attached to the evaporator tubes.
