Usually, Diaphragms are Nitrile based. Nitrile based diaphragms are quite susceptible to damage by UV and/or Ozone. Its not a product quality issue at all.

If your process is such that your diaphragms will be exposed to Ozone or UV, you must get diaphragms which have anti ozonant or anti UV compounds added so that the polymer bonds do not break.

Ethylene propylene diene (EPDM) coated Diaphragms or yet better, Nomex are now the accepted standard  coatings for diaphragms where exposure to UV or ozone is common. Check out Emmerson's website for such products. Their documentation is quite interesting.
