Much more than just general office clerks, administrative assistant provide essential administrative support to the executives and department managers. With their computer, communication and data entry skills, administrative assistants are able to assist with both complex and general administrative duties, allowing their supervisors more time to carry out their managerial tasks.

 

The duties and responsibilities of administrative assistants:

 

  1. sort and distribute incoming mail to areas and staff within the organisation and dispatch outgoing mail
  2. write business letters, reports or office memoranda using word processing programmes
  3. answer telephone enquiries from customers, attend to visitors and assist other staff in the organisation with their enquiries
  4. operate a range of office machines such as photocopiers, computers and faxes
  5. file papers and documents
  6. undertake other duties such as banking, credit control or payroll functions.
