Is it straight forward importing Autocad 2012 DXF format into SAP2000 ?

any one can point out a tuturial ?

yes-the firist save autocad file to ext dxf file and the second from sap - file menu import dxf file and browsing for autocad dxf file and selsct it and define each member in sap

Yes , but u have steps to make in drawing before importing to SAP , u should make3 new layers in the drawing : Beam Layer : Draw all beams again using line command u can use Layiso to help u .

- Slab layer : draw the slab with3DFACE commmand to draw a small square then use array command to cover all slab with those small squares (eg.1m*1m square) , then delate all additional squares and try to make them end with the slab borders .

- Column layer : draw a point object in the column and be sure to draw it within the column borders .

after finishing move all the entire drawing to0,0,0 point .

then u can import to SAP .
