A combination of a strong personality, great work ethic, and amazing track record can definitely boost your capabilities in an attempt to successfully manage a restaurant. The following characteristics and skills are mandatory:

Excellent communication/interpersonal skills in order to deal with demanding customers and occasionally overwhelmed staff.

Extensive experience with budgeting and costs of labor (Being able to manage L&P).

Assertiveness/ strong personality to be able to lead and manage employees.

Adaptability and flexible to a variety of working conditions and profitable situations (holidays, weekends, etc.).

Fair and justifiable work ethic that is not broken by emotions or persuasion from staff members.

Strong mathematical/computer skills to be applied when working with POS systems and computers.

Extensive experience with customer satisfaction, cash and credit handling, and distribution of salaries/tips.

Friendly, hospitable and social character; approachable by staff members when faced with an issue and by customers when faced with compliants.

Strongly adhering to food safety and hygienic standards and always checking that he is updated with the latest procedures for health safety and that they are in effect at his restaurant.

A strong leader and team player who leads and manages his staff but is not afraid to listen to suggestions.

Strong promotional/ simulations skills.
