Structured Englsih Query Language.
Tip: Specifically SQL is stands for SEQUEL (Structured English Query Language), and SEQUEL was the first query language invented for the intial RDB system by IBM, it invented for testing purposes. after that IBM developed a new bussiness version of SEQUEL for public and it was a very different from the first one but because the SEQUEL expression is very attractive for bussiness they use it but they shorten it to SQL, many pepole now mixed between SQL and SEQUEL and the think that it stands for Structured Query Language. but hey think a little, SQL is not a structured language !!.

SQL stands for "Structured Query Language". Its standard language to query all RDBMS systems including SQL Server, Oracle etc. Its written in plain English language.
