Google Apps : This is free but its difficlult woking with xlxs or latest MsOffice files. Google Drive to share the filesThough its good but no free templates to use.

Office365 : Its paid but you get thousands of templates to use, onedrive share. Supports all Ms Office extentions.

Follwing are few differences

1. Both Offer similar feature like word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email etc

2. Office365 has various versions and prices for different user accounts

3. Microsoft privacy policy says that they will not scan your data or provide information to third parties but Google privacy states that they can use information they collect from you for advertising purposes

4. Office365 gives50 GB of storage space in outlook and25 GB in skydirve while Google Apps provides30 GB of space with is spread among Gmail, drive and picasa.

5. Office365 provides desktop apps

6. Office365 Excel features are better

If I have to choose one between these then I like Office365 with current features but better to keep an eye on the google apps and office365 product pages to stay as current as possible.

Hi

I come from an IT background have good technical knowladge.  However in my day to day work I mostly do word processing, spread sheets, presentations and business graphs.

I am not sure how to use Google apps. I dont seem to find a single entry point or a unified user interface that I can work. On the other hand officer365 gives me access to all the office products. Its much easier to use in the familier interfaces and  Microsoft office is still the most powerful office tools avaialble.  So I would vote for officer365 any time.

However, I dont think it is that strong in its cloud storage solutions. Many people would use google for its cloude storage options. However, I am not happy with both microsoft and google offerings on cloude storage.  I have purchased an SVN server subscription and all my important forlders are synchronised to SVN using tortoise SVN client. It helps me to keep older versions of the documents without actively uploading/managing them

Cheers
