Branding is why. Marketing is how. Branding is long-term. Marketing is short-term. Branding is macro. Marketing is micro. Branding defines trajectory. Marketing defines tactics. Branding drives enduring reputation. Marketing drives periodic sales.

 

You need both. Both are important

Understand the importance and difference between brand and marketing.  The two are important, but in different ways brand is a promise to the customer.  Marketing  is an integral part of your brand. It helps you to communicate the promise that you want customers and prospects to know about. There is a hell difference among the two and to be precise Marketing is all about creating demand, plans, strategies and promotions in order to generate profits for the assign business. While, branding are core activities perform by Brand Manager to get their brand acknowledge by customers. There could be multiple efforts done by Brand Manager like various promotion activities based upon their customers, designing promotional activities to promote the brand etc. The ultimate aim of both terms is to bring customer to them.
