It depends on sensation like humans, Touch or meting (Proxy or metal sensors), sight or vision (Photo sensors and cams and IR & UV detectors), Smell or smoke sensors like nose, Speak or delivering information (Speakers, Every information showing device i.e Monitor, TV, Printer etc). Listening (Mic), Calibration like human ears and eyes. Wires like human nerves and after getting the information in a Brain ( IC's, storage or virtual & supper intelligence) making decisions. Just like Human !

Semiconductors plays an important role in electronics. The electronics depend on Switching Characteristics and Thermal Characteristics .If the Electronic devices works in high temperature area or very low temperature area its output state would be unpredictable...

It basically depends on semiconductor based devices and circuits which consume less power.

I must say that the above all requirement is electricity. When we have electricity, then we can go for electronics. The semiconductor devices will come on the secondary. Once we have the electrons available, then we can play with them by means of semiconductors.
