Fractrure is the discontitnuity occurio ng in the macro level where as the dislocation is the discontitnutiy in the micro level . Fracture may be considered as dis;ocation but all the dislocations are not fratures.

In orthopedic: Fracture is defined as loss of continuity of bone cortex. There are 2 types of fracture: 1. Traumatic. 2. Pathologic. Dislocation is defined as complete loss of contact between 2 bone surfaces that form a joint. If the loss of contact is partial it's called then (Subluxation).

Dislocations in materials occur at the atomic scale where an irregularity exists within the atoms making up the material. Fractures occur when one surface becomes displaced with respect to another. Dislocations exist to a certain degree within every material, however there are times where dislocations may grow and lead to fracture.
