Precast concrete is used in places where Time , Space & working movement is restricted.

Most  commonly it is now being used in Bridges , rail works etc

It may be recommended where

1. spaces are not available for normal form work.

2. space not available for movement of working Labour & Machinery.

3. Short span of time is available to carry out the job.

Use of Precast concrete in no doubt reduces much time to execute the work including more important advantages of quality control, much higher strengths possible than normal RCC due to which problems arising due to space availability also reduces and it also reduces overall weight of structure.

Only the design can force me to do this, otherwise I will always design as well in steel as in prefabricated concrete to let my client se the difference in costs, details, building time. People always talk about costs of a steel frame versus a prefabricated frame, but usually forget to calculate the difference in foundation. This can make the difference!
