We are using equipments like MSAN,DSLAM, RAN, GPON , VDSL etc for getting DSL, the vendors are Alcatel,Huawei,Siemens etc. DSL can be of different speeds depending upon the nature of networks, in my opinion it is the cheap and best option for internet with constant speed as it is through wired system(through copper)..
