What is WBS(Work Breakdown Structure)?

 WBA organizes the necessary work by decomposing it into smaller, manageable pieces that can be scheduled, cost-estimated, monitored, and controlled

WBS is a list of related tasks to perform a task. For each task you usually define duration, relationship with other tasks, & resources required to perform the task.

Work Breakdown Structure is a deliverable -oriented hierarchical decomposition of the work to be executed by the project team to accomplish the project objectives and create the required deliverables. It organizes and defines the total scope of the project. Each descending level represents an increasingly detailed definition of the project work. The WBS is decomposed into work packages. The deliverable orientation of the hierarchy includes both internal and external deliverables.

WBS is the decomposition of the amount of work begining by the project title ending by the most lower leveles (activities) or work packages according to the size and complexity of the project.

WBS allows the decomposition of an activity into smaller tasks, that are useful for duration evaluation, performance improvement and cost control. This breakdown is also needed to identify responsabilities for each task, and to calculate the critical path.

A WBS is a detailed plan of your project work, including what phases are required in the

work and what tasks are needed within each phase. It focuses on deliverables that need to

be produced. It also helps for cost estimation, cost budgeting, resource planning, planning risk

management and defining activities to be completed. It helps in visualizing the tasks that needs to be finished before another task. 

In the simplest of explanations, a Work breakdown structure (WBS) is a graphical diagram used to depict the hierarchical decomposition of the project into phases, activities, and tasks.

 

WBS is a chart that shows the logical sequence of tasks from the beginning to the end of the project, which also defines the relationship of tasks to each otherit also determines the time required for each task and therefore the total time of the project

WBS is a heirarchical or incremental decomposition of works into more detailed and smaller items, phases, packages etc usually necessary in Quantity Surveying, in SAP, ERP etc. to ensure completeness of each and every details of the project, product, data etc.

A grouping of project elements, organized in a hierarchical tree structure. It defines the total scope of the project at the highest level in the tree and each descending level provides an increasingly granular definition of each element.
