Here are few differences between both Operating Systems, there is much more to write but I can't fit all the that here.

1. Full access vs. no access

You have full access in Linux to modify the access code but in Window you can't . it better to fix the bugs.

2. Licensing freedom vs. licensing restrictions

Linux is free and with a Linux GPL-licensed operating system, you are free to modify that software and use and even republish or sell it (with code availablility) but in windows you have only limited licences which you buy

3. Online peer support vs. paid help-desk support

There is no support for Linux except forums but in windows you can get paid online support other than fourms

4. Full vs. partial hardware support

Linux is not very user friendly for installing drivers although now its more easy than the past to install the drivers fo hardware. Windows is better in this case.

5. Command line Interface

Linux is more powerful and secure with command line interface  for administration purposes. In windows you can also use cmd interface but not that powerful like linux.

Linux is the most popular operating system for web servers. Since Linux-based hosting is more popular, it has more of the features web designers expect.  So unless you have websites which need specific Windows applications, Linux is the preferred choice.

I think, in terms of stability, security, and cost Linux servers is a great choice, on the other hand windows servers are easy to manage and configure.

IMHO, Linux OS is much much better than Windows ( what could be better than Free, Yes Of Course there are Enterprise Versions of linux too). Linux servers are known to be running Stable for Years, without requiring a single reboot. I think MS has realized this and have Cut down fancy GUI in their Windows Servers Editions by Introducing Server Code, which also minimizes Attack Surface hence improving Security.

It's depends only on financial situation of your company, as w eknow all that Micorsoft solution are full licenses and expensives, in stead Linux is a totally free OS and you can setup differents other solution on it (Authentifiaction, DNS, Monitoring, Firewalling, Proxy, etc...). I recommand Linux for you it's free and it will help to improve your comprehension of the OS architecture, Windows still a expensive and a BlackBox solution.

First off, Windows isn't Linux. Linux is a free, open source operating system that's aimed towards server, desktop, and laptop use. It's very versatile, secure, easy to use, and is one of the most advanced operating systems. Though most things for Windows won't run on it, there are many alternatives and similar programs. Windows is also easy, versatile, and is good for both desktops and laptops. I'm sure that you understand Windows, though. I'd use Windows if you were into using programs that won't run in Linux such as Photoshop or if you play games that aren't available on Linux (A lot of them are, though!) Though the best is considered opinion, there are certain distros that work better on different hardware. openSUSE is for business and works very well on laptops and netbooks (Not as well on desktops.)

everything is good what you can manage. windows, linux and .... . some humans likes windows and other linux or something more. you are system administrator so you choose what you need. But all they are doing there jobs. AD is windows application, but samba is on linux. All systems have there place in IT.

Windows Server has been evolved to be a great choice for easy management, network infrastructure, cloud integration. It has now unprecedented ease of management and power needed to support IT infrastructure as well as cloud computing. Virtualization has also been improved a lot. However, it all comes with a price of licensing.
