They can help you to engage with other members that might have a job opening by sharing topics of interest, showing a fraction of your expertise, getting each other known a little or the opportunity to apply directly for job openings that are posted on the site. It can also be a major opportunity for job suppliers to engage with jobseekers.

if you have a good network its easy to get into vacancies which may not be known to open market , if you see as social network it also depends as some people used facebook effectively , some are good at Linkedin , many got jobs through bayt.com so its again network through such portals
