According to MIT Sloan School of Business, Operations Management deals with the design and management of products, processes, services and supply chains. It considers the acquisition, development, and utilization of resources that firms need to deliver the goods and services their clients want.

In my opinion, operations manager deals with the production, distribution, support and other non-development related aspects of a product, which in turn, directly impacts cost and quality.

I definitely believe that the field is growing as more organizations are beginning to realize that with the proper allocation and management of resources, operations managers are adding great value to organizations.
