Well, I believe, the best to way to deal with this situation is to not to pay any attention to this fact, just perform your work and duties to the maximum best and deal with this co-worker as any other co-worker as well as the boss.

At the end of the day, if you are doing your work and performing, your work and achievement will speakout for you.

get wrapped with them,it works try it.

Most people who answered abvoe did not realize the size of the monster you are dealing with. They all are referring to your co-worker as a male, while in fact she is a female which is very clear from your question. First of all, you have to carefully evaluate the relationship between you and her. If there are any strains then try to straigthen them up. As a general practice stay at a distance from her since more close relation might result into annoying her which might result into disaster. Focus on your work and do not indulge into personal things with your co-wroker. In nut-shell, avaoid giving her a chance to exploit you and use her powers through her boss.

This is a difficult one when all the limelight is hogged by one or two people in the organisation, the situation will create the condition for non motivated team.

Do what you have to do, do it well and demonstrate a real interest in the team, good luck.
