I think teachers’ jobs have always been rigorous as we deal with children who are curious to learn and find about the planet more each day. They are young, creative and inquisitive. Additionally, we have 21st century children in our classrooms now. We always have to be one step ahead of them. It requires to work hard and keep up with the newest technology and integrate it into our teaching. I have given assignments that required research, content knowledge and technological skills such as using 2.0 tools. I am a jazz listener but I check the Top 10 music pop\\hip hop list every weekend and have an idea about what the teenagers listen and can chat with them when I hear them listening to that music. I can give examples or use the music they like or a trendy film as an introduction to my lesson as long as they are relevant to the content. Being knowledgeable and honest are important, too. If I expect academic honesty from them, I have to cite my own resources as well. We have to be a model for them as lifelong learners. The equation of mutual respect, entertainment and learning is essential in a classroom. I believe this comes with experience.
