Honestly, most recruiters, they spend 30 seconds looking at your application. Before I go on, this doesn't mean that you may not be qualified or that I won’t eventually read the whole application. I would need to for an interview for instance. But I’m not going through sometimes hundreds of CV sent to my inbox or found on CV search sites like Bayt or LinkedIn. I am checking for a few quick things to make sure you qualify and then move to the next step. If you're missing these things, I skip. Plain and simple. Did you fill out everything? I check, and want to make sure you can follow instructions.

For Resumes in my inbox I check your current role. I am not going to recruit you from CV search databases if you're new to your job. So if you want to hear from a recruiter in your first three months of starting work...you probably won’t. And if I got your resume in my inbox, I better see your most recent experience clearly highlight your skill within the company. No errors, no misspelled words, no ugly CVs and personally, I like branded applications. I like to see your point of view. But please know I will skip your CV if you spell anything wrong.

Show me your articles, quota accounts, twitter handles, GitHub contributions, and so on.

Keywords. Put your keywords. I search keywords all the time. If I randomly search four keywords and you don't have them, but you have the rest, I’m not likely to keep checking. So put all keywords.

Keywords. Keywords. Keywords.

Do not send me a resume that you have not matched perfectly with the keywords for the job title you want. I know it sounds tedious but its for your benefit. We all use search tools or (Ctrl F) to check for keywords and if they aren't there I pass. You don't need to have the best resume to get in the door, you just need to pass the first couple of tests. And the easiest way to get kicked out of the competition is to put the keywords from a job ad and based on industry standards for the job title. Look them up, check other jobs ads, check the resumes of people working at the company you want to work at. Please do your research or at the very least, list the keywords from my job ad

1. People tend to cover or amend their Application based on recruiter's requirement, rather than exposing their individual strength and potential. 2. Applicant focuses more on look, rather than content.
