its natural that client can get furious and angry on the possible outcome, best way is to give him this impression that you are understanding his position and can relate to it, infact "you are on his side",  this will help you can gain his trust back on you and your compnay. Solution to the problem is seriousness and putting your message accross that the problem wil be rectified and addressed on immediate basis.

I trust that every problem has a solution, my conviction that the angry customer as a spoiled child needs a simple tenderness with a smiley face and some words to satisfy him Just smile and put things in perspective and deal with the angry customer a little calm and be serious in your promises and do not utter a word and you are not confident in its implementation and the result you win the trust of the customer and the trust of your manager.
